The Spina Bifida statistics for New York are as follows: In this state 2.06 babies out of 10,000 babies are affected with this medical condition. The data was collected during the years 2001-2005. The data shows a decrease in the figures when compared to previous data. An estimated 4,015 people currently residing in New York have this health issue.
Around 6.3 million women are in the family way and some are at risk of delivering babies having this birth defect. The number of people in New York state of Hispanic origin is 16 percent (Hispanics traditionally are at higher risk of SB), which comes up to 3.1 million. In New York, there are eight SB clinics.
Two Spina Bifida clinics, hospitals and doctors who are are situated in New York City which provides help to patients with SB. The SB clinics are located in Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, Brooklyn, West Haverstraw, and Valhalla. The state has two SB Association chapters that offer aid to people affected with Spina Bifida. The SB Association of Northeast New York is in Albany and the SB Association of Nassau County can be found at Sound Beach.
