The Spina Bifida statistics for Maryland are as follows: In the state 3.62 babies out of 10,000 births are born with this medical problem. The survey was carried out during the period of 2001-2004. According to the figures, there has been a decline in SB births when compared to the previous figure.
Around 2,039 people reside in the state of Maryland who are affected with this birth defect. An estimated 1.8 million women who are of childbearing age stand at high risk of giving birth to babies affected with SB. The population of Hispanic origin in the state is 6.7 percent, which is 380 thousand (Hispanic people are more susceptible to giving birth to children with SB).
