The Spina Bifida statisticsfor Georgia are as follows: Out of 10,000 births in Georgia, 3.94 babies are born with this medical condition. The data was taken during the time period of 2001-2005. The figure has shown a significant rise when compared with data that was collected previously.
In Georgia, 3,816 people are living with this health issue. Around 3 million pregnant women are residing in Georgia. Some have a strong possibility of giving birth to babies affected with this medical problem. About 8 percent of the population in Georgia is of Hispanic origin, which is about 700 thousand (people of Hispanic origin are at more risk of SB).
The SB Association of Georgia offers resources and support services in Georgia. Two Spina Bifida clinics, hospitals and doctors that are present in Georgia that provide help and assistance to people affected with this health problem. Both the SB clinics are located in Atlanta. There are currently no support groups in this state.
