The Spina Bifida statistics for Florida are as follows: 3.21 babies were born with this medical condition per 10,000 births. This survey was conducted during the years of 2001-2005, which also showed a significant increase in the number of babies being born with SB. As of now an estimated 5,883 people are living in Florida with this health issue.
Around 5.6 million women in Florida have the possibility of having babies affected with this birth defect. The percentage of people living in the state of Hispanic origin is 21 percent which represents 3.8 million (people of Hispanic origin are at more risk of SB).
Four Spina Bifida clinics, hospitals and doctors that are present in Florida that provide treatment for people with this medical problem. These are found at Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Jacksonville.
The state of Florida has two SB Association-affiliated organizations that offer aid and help to patients living with this health problem. The SB Association of Greater Tampa Bay is at present in Tampa and SB Association of Central Florida is located at Maitland.
